ASEEMA CHARITY

Since 2013, we have been supporting the Aseema Charity in India, specifically the Special Education Programme at Pali Chimbai Municipal School (PCMS) and the Kherwadi Municipal School (KMS) supporting children in their reading and writing. In 2015 and 2016, a total of 265 children worked under the aegis of six teachers. Children in grades 6, 7 and 8 participated in two weekly sessions covering topics such as Reading, Writing, Spoken English and Extended Reading.

The results of the Special Education Programme Modules were astounding: 47% jumped 1-grade level in proficiency, 10% 2-grade levels while 3% jumped 3-grade levels. In addition, their confidence and articulation have increased with success at the board examinations, totalling an average score between 95-100%.

Aseema aims to expand the program both by providing support sessions to more students and also by expanding the modules to children in grades 1-4.

We are very proud of the students and their thirst for knowledge. Here at GCO we know the value of a good education and feel that every child has a right to learn and see a bright future.
